Sue’s 30 Day Challenge

Go Sue Go!

On my final day of hoop dance classes in the spring, I had the courage to ask Sue what her age was as I was interested in knowing from the first class. When she said 54 years young I was so excited.  How wonderful is it for some one at the age of 54 to come out and try something new and different.

She was in the process of doing a 30 day challenge where she had to do something physical for a certain amount of time each day for 30 day.  I was happy to hear that she had choosen hoop dance as a new way to get moving.

I remember when I first met Sue she was excited to just learn waist hooping but by the end of the 4 weeks she was doing a lot more tricks than just those around the waist.  By the last day we were doing several different moves on and off the body.

How exciting !  Thankx Sue for your inspiration and drive… I can’t wait to see your new fancy moves after having the summer to practice. wink!

Getting your Sweat ON

Wow.. last nights Hoop Dance class was amazing.. I was pumped after the class as we ploughed through so many great moves and the wonderful ladies in my class all learned the moves at there own pace. It sure is neat to see each of them progress with the hoop as the weeks go by. Only 2 more classes left I am sure to be blown away with their sick moves. :)

I also brought in bandanas for them to wear and I got them all to blind fold themselves to really get at feel for the hoop.  So many other ideas come up when I brought out the bandana…like..using it with your arms as a way to get your arms more into your dance while hooping…

Very exciting… possibilities are endless.. Oh my..

Classes tonight

I am super excited…. 4 people have signed up and I am ready for a new session of classes.   I wish I had the full 6 weeks to teach but there isn’t room at the Brennan Park Rec Centre to do six weeks so 4 will have to do.  The ladies in the class will definitley be in for a great hooping session. I will check in after the classes and let you know how they are going.

P.S I went to a www.kundalini-dance.com workshop again this weekend and it was so amazing, I wish I could dance all day, everyday!

Heading off to do final preperations.

New Hoop Dance Classes

I realzied I have 1 week until my 3rd Series of Hoop Dance Classes.  I have 4 people registered at this point and I run into more future hoopers on the street that want to come to classes.  I am excited to get back to hooping and showing others in Squamish the joys and skills of hooping.

Today I went and looked at the Big Blue Barn..down at the ocean front at Nexan beach.  This is a future site for artists, performers..and perhaps….. hoop dance and poi spinning… Fingers crossed there will be a muti purpose space for a great price so the locals have a place to practice and perform.

till next time…..~

In the Beginning~

Wow! This is it.  The launch of Spectrum Dance Co.  I am excited to get this out into the world so all can bask in the colourfulness of Spectrum.

This site is where you can book me for show or classes, find updates on where I am performing or teaching, tips on how to do poi, fire spinning, hoop dance, buy hoops and poi, see updated pictures and video and any other fun wacky activity that I decide to post.  :)

I would love to send a huge thankx out to laurel@studioblanc.com, Glittergirl, Elenna, Sharon and my husband Craig for helping me along the way to get this site up and running.
